Repositioning a mobile veterinary practice around trust and empathy

Industry: Veterinary Healthcare (Mobile Practice)

My Role: Website Strategy, Copywriting & Social Media Communications

Focus: Brand positioning · Trust building · Digital communications

Context

Your Pet's Friend is an independent mobile veterinary practice serving pet owners across the Perth Hills.

Built around one veterinarian's commitment to providing calm, compassionate care in clients' homes, the practice offers a more personal alternative to the traditional clinic experience.

The owner approached me to rewrite the practice website and, following its launch, provide ongoing communication support through weekly Facebook content.

The Communication Challenge

The quality of care was exceptional, but the practice's digital communication didn't reflect the experience clients received.

The website felt impersonal and generic, making it difficult to understand what set the business apart. It also overlooked an important part of the practice's identity: Your Pet's Friend is run by a single veterinarian whose approach is built on trust, empathy and taking the time to care for both pets and their owners.

Facebook presented a similar challenge. Posting had been infrequent and lacked a consistent voice, making it difficult to build recognition in the local community.

The opportunity was to create a cohesive communication approach that reflected the practice's personality while giving prospective clients confidence to make contact.

Communication Strategy

Rather than describing veterinary services, I repositioned the communication to focus on pet owners' concerns and emotions.

The homepage immediately addressed one of the biggest barriers many clients face: the stress of transporting an unwell, elderly or anxious pet to a clinic. Throughout the website, I shifted the focus from procedures to outcomes, emphasising the reassurance, convenience and personal attention that define the mobile service.

To reinforce the one-to-one nature of the practice, I replaced collective language such as "we" and "our" with "I" and "my", creating a more authentic and personal voice.

Calls to action were simplified and standardised to create a clearer user journey, while client testimonials were added to build credibility.

Bringing It to Life

Following the website rewrite, I applied the same principles to the practice's Facebook presence through a weekly content programme.

The objective wasn't simply to promote services, but to build familiarity and trust over time through consistent, audience-focused communication. Educational content, practical pet care advice and community-focused posts were balanced with lighter moments to create a warm, approachable presence.

To ensure the communication reflected what clients genuinely valued, I drew heavily on the language used in Google reviews. Recurring themes such as "gentle", "calm", "comfortable" and "explains everything clearly" became part of the practice's ongoing communication, reinforcing the qualities that clients already associated with the business.

Alongside writing the content, I designed the accompanying graphics, planned the editorial calendar and managed publishing to maintain a consistent voice across channels.

Outcome

The result was a more cohesive digital presence that better reflected the values and personality of the practice across both its website and social media.

Over six months, the practice's Facebook following grew from approximately 630 to more than 1,270 followers, supported by consistent weekly publishing and audience-focused communication.

More importantly, the business developed a clearer and more recognisable voice that communicated its services and the experience pet owners can expect when entrusting their animals to its care.
